Ingredients
- 2-3 bananas, either cut lengthwise or in rounds/coins
- 2 tablespoon of unsalted butter
- 3-4 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 1-2 teaspoon of cinnamon, grounded
- splash of rum or rum essence, optional
Instructions
- Start by heating the pan and adding butter. Once the butter starts melting, add sugar. Stir for a few seconds, and then add cinnamon. Give it another good stir. Add splash of rum or rum essence and shake the pan, ensuring that rum mixes with sugary-butter coating.
- Add sliced bananas, either cut length wise or cut into “coins” each about 2 cm thick. Let them cook for approximately 4-5 minutes until the underside turns a luscious golden brown and caramelizes.
- Turn the bananas over to cook the other side until it caramelizes as well. Be gentle when flipping the bananas to avoid them falling apart or turning into mush. Using a spatula makes this task easier, ensuring your caramelized banana slices remain whole.
- Serve the caramelized bananas hot. Enjoy them with a scoop of ice cream, a dollop of yogurt, or as a delightful topping for your morning porridge.
