Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in heavy-based pan. You will have to cover pan with the lid later on, so choose a comfortable to use pan. Peel and mince the garlic and throw it into the heated oil. Fry for 1-2 minutes, stirring. Keep the heat on medium-high
  2. While garlic is frying, peel and chop the onion. Add onion to the garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes. Peel and roughly chop carrot, dice the celery and throw into the pan. Add pinch of salt, pepper and tomato puree, stir the vegetables and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, peel and cut the potatoes the way you prefer. I like when potatoes are chopped roughly, "country-style". Add potatoes to the vegetables.
  4. Throw in the cut beef, 2-3 tablespoon of butter, add dried herbs as dill, parsley, thyme and marjoram. Stir all ingredients, cover the lid and cook on medium heat for 30 minutes, until the potatoes are soft.
  5. Serve with rustic bread to dig into the sauces, don't forget to add nice fresh salad and enjoy!

What leftover beef to use for this recipe?

One of the best ways to use up leftover cooked beef is to make a hearty and delicious stew. But not all beef cuts are equally suited for this dish. Here are some tips on how to choose the right beef cuts for your stew.

The most important factor to consider is the tenderness of the beef. Since the beef is already cooked, you don't want to use cuts that are tough or chewy, such as brisket, chuck, or shank. These cuts need a long time to simmer in liquid to become tender, but if you cook them again in a stew, they will become dry and stringy.

Instead, you want to use cuts that are already tender, such as roast beef, steak, or sirloin. These cuts have less connective tissue and more marbling, which means they have more fat and flavor. They also retain their juiciness and texture when reheated in a stew.

To prepare the beef for the stew, you can either cut it into bite-sized pieces or shred it with two forks. Simmer the stew until everything is heated through and the flavors are well combined.

A beef stew made with cooked beef is a great way to enjoy a warm and satisfying meal without wasting any food. By choosing the right beef cuts, you can ensure that your stew is tender, juicy, and flavorful.
