These cookies with condensed milk bake up with lightly crisp edges and soft centres, thanks to the combination of condensed milk and butter. There's no added sugar in the dough — the condensed milk does all the work. That means you get sweetness without overload, and a dough that’s easy to handle even if you're not an experienced baker.
Ingredients to Make These Wonderful Condensed Milk Cookies
Here is what you need to bake cookies with condensed milk:
- Sweetened condensed milk. While I am usually advocating for budget-friendly versions, in here try to get better quality condensed milk. Check the ingredients list on the package - it should not contain anything else but Milk and Sugar. No stabilisers, milk-fats, non-milk solids - just only milk and sugar. This one is good and from Tesco is OK-ish also.
- Unsalted butter, softened
- Plain flour (all-purpose)
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Optional: icing sugar, chocolate, nuts, or toppings of your choice
Top Tips
- Condensed milk already sweetens the dough, so avoid adding more sugar unless you're after a dessert-style cookie.
- Let the butter soften at room temperature – it should be soft enough to press but not melted.
- Depending on your flour, you might need slightly more or less than expected. You’re aiming for a soft, pliable dough that doesn’t stick to your hands.
- Chilling the dough for just 10 minutes makes shaping easier and helps the cookies keep their form in the oven.
How to Make Cookies with Condensed Milk
It is not tricky process to bake a batch of those cookies. So get you gear and let's start baking!
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (not fan-assisted) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and condensed milk together until smooth and creamy.
- In a separate bowl, sift the flour, then mix in the baking powder and salt.
- Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet, using a spatula. Stir until the dough is smooth and soft.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for 10 minutes – this helps with shaping.
- Form small balls of dough and place them on your baking tray. Press each gently with your thumb to flatten slightly.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden around the edges.
- Cool on a wire rack, and optionally dust with icing sugar or decorate as you like.

Make Them Your Way
The good part of this recipe - it is completely customisable to your taste. This dough is a solid base for different flavour variations. Add-ins like chopped pecans, vanilla extract, orange zest, or even a pinch of cinnamon all work well. If you’re baking with kids, top each cookie with smarties or dip the baked ones in melted chocolate.
Storage & Serving Ideas
Once cooled, store the cookies in an airtight container for up to 4–5 days. Serve them as they are, or pair with tea, coffee, or a glass of milk for something a bit more comforting.
They’re also great for gifting — just wrap a few in parchment and tie with string.

Cookies with Condensed Milk Recipe

Whip up a batch of humble and cute Cookies with Condensed Milk for instant home warmth. Easy and affordable ingredients make it a cozy delight to treat your loved ones.
Ingredients
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk (380 gr)
- 200 gr unsalted butter, softened but not melted
- 350 gr flour, general purpose. Depending on your flour type and brand, you might need more or less flour, so make the changes if needed!
- 1 ½ baking powder
- pinch of salt
- sugar powder - optional (see in notes)
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 180C
- Using the stand or hand mixer, start combining softened butter and condensed milk. Mix on medium speed for couple of minutes, ensuring butter and milk are mixed into a creamy texture.
- Sieve the flour into another bowl and add baking powder to it. Using the spatula, start to mix in the sieved flour into the butter mixture. The dough would be very tender and soft.
- Cover with a lid or cling film and let it stay in the fridge for 10 minutes. It would be more comfortable to work with the dough after that.
- Using the cookie scoop, form a cookie balls and place them on a baking sheet. Press thumb in the middle of each cookie ball, flattening it.
- Put the cookies to oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Watch them closely!
- Decorate them as you wish: sprinkle powder sugar, chocolate cream, frosting. Serve with nice cup of tea, coffee or glass of cold milk.
Notes
Is it needed to add sugar powder? Condensed milk is sweet, so adding sugar or sugar powder would result in over-sweetness. I am not adding any more sugar into the dough, but sprinkling sugar powder on top of baked cookies would be a nice finishing touch.
